Aug 24, 2017 Not to be confused with the later Mamiya 6, this is the Mamiya Six folding camera. I came across this camera when trying to decide what gear to take on a multi-day backpacking trip. It was only after receiving the camera that I realized how interesting it's focusing system is.
The Mamiya Six, also known as the Mamiya-6, is a series of foldingmedium-formatrangefinder cameras manufactured by Mamiya between 1940 and the late 1950s. The cameras captured twelve 6 cm × 6 cm images on 120 film rolls. Some later models could also take sixteen 4.5 cm × 6 cm images. The cameras were coupled rangefinders, but had a unique focusing mechanism that moved the film plane instead of the lens. The lenses were not interchangeable, and were made by various Japanese manufacturers. Beginning with the model IV, the name on the top plate changed from 'Mamiya Six' (two lines) to 'Mamiya-6'.

Lenses and Shutters
The Mamiya Six was manufactured in a wide range of lenses and shutters. That holds particularly true for the pre-War and War period, when prospective buyers could even bring in their own shutters and lenses to be fitted. Note that the lens and shutter combinations have been arranged alphabetically, not chronologically.
